Gentiloni meets with Portuguese foreign minister. Common concern for Libya and commitment to strengthen Triton

Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni met this morning with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Rui Machete. Their cordial meeting confirmed the excellent status of bilateral relations and underscored and reinforced existing affinities.

On priority current international events, in particular,  Gentiloni and Machete shared “a pressing concern for developments under way in Libya”.

Finally, Minister Gentiloni pointed out “the common sensibility and shared interest in the careful and effective handling of the migration emergency in the Mediterranean Sea”, joining his colleague in confirming  “both countries’ commitment to boosting Triton”.
