Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni received General John Allen, President of the United States’ Special Envoy for the Anti-Daesh Coalition. General Allen updated Minister Gentiloni on recent developments in the military situation, with particular reference to the areas of Tikrit and northern Iraq.
Gentiloni confirmed Italy’s commitment which, in addition to military training and reconnaissance, efforts aimed at opposing financing for Daesh.
They also discussed the situation in Syria and the threat of the growing Daesh presence in Libya.
