“I firmly condemn today’s attack near the international airport of Kabul on a EUPOL mission convoy which took the life of a British citizen”, said Minister for Foreign Affairs Gentiloni regarding the attack this morning in Afghanistan.
“This despicable attack hits us even harder as Europeans because it was against a civilian mission being carried out within the framework of the EU’s Common Foreign and Defence Policy, which has been supporting the Afghan government’s judiciary and police reforms for many years now”, the minister underscored.
“Today’s event is a reminder that the guard must never be lowered in the struggle against terrorism, and that is why we intend to continue to support the EUPOL mission and other missions and organisations working on behalf of the stabilisation of Afghanistan”, Gentiloni concluded.
