The flash mission’s purpose was to meet with the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative Bernardino Leòn, President of the General National Congress of Tripoli Nuri Abu Sahmain and Algerian Minister for Maghreb Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
The fell within the context of Italy’s intense diplomatic efforts to reinforce and expand the preliminary accord proposed by the United Nations and signed on 12 July in Morocco by the delegations of Tobruk and Misurata, in addition to representatives of the independent movements and municipalities.
At meetings’ end, UN envoy Bernardino Leòn deemed it a positive step in the pursuance of dialogue with all the Libyan parties.
