“The participation of representatives of the General National Congress (GNC) in the meeting in Geneva promoted by the UN Envoy for Libya, Bernardino Leon, is a step in the right direction. The political process can now proceed on the basis of the agreement reached in Morocco on 12 July”. This was the comment by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni.
“It is only through discussion and dialogue by the parties at the negotiating table that the questions as yet unresolved can be addressed”, continued the Minister, “so that Libya can finally turn the page and resume the process of reconciliation and democratic development”.
