The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, sent a message of congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Gambia, Ousainou Darboe.
Minister Alfano expressed the wish that the Country’s new political phase bring positive developments in terms of stabilisation, reconciliation and promoting justice and democracy.
“These developments would also have fruitful fallouts on the whole region and on the cooperation between the Economic Community of West African States and the European Union,” Mr Alfano wrote in his message to his Gambian counterpart.
In the light of the excellent relations already established between the two Countries, Mr Alfano said: “I hope a fruitful cooperation will also consolidate on issues such as fighting terrorism, promoting peace and security, respecting human rights, and combating illegal migration flows, with a special focus on human trafficking.”
