The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will be in London today. The visit is a follow-up to “Italy Now and Next. Attrazione, Competenze ed Investimenti: Milano al centro dell’Europa di domani” the event that was held in Milan last 16 February. “It aims to present the strengths of Italy and Milan to the London-based economic and financial world and highlight the Government’s effort to make our Country increasingly appealing for foreign investment,” said Minister Alfano.
This morning at 11:30 a.m. (local time), Minister Alfano will meet with a delegation of “The Halo Trust”, the NGO that is most engaged at global level in land demining efforts and in performing advocacy activities for the elimination of all mines by 2025.
Mr Alfano will subsequently meet with the representatives of the European Medicines Agency and the European Bank Authority and, at 12:00 p.m., a delegation of British and international business people operating in London.
At 1 p.m. the Minister will take part in the “Italy Now and Next” public conversation moderated by Francine Lacqua with an audience of people from the world of business and finance.
The meetings will all take place at the offices of Bloomberg.
At 2:35 p.m., Mr Alfano together with the British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Alan Duncan, will lay a wreath of flowers at Westminster to pay homage to the victims of the terrorist attack that struck the city of London last 22 March.
Finally, at 2:45 p.m., Minister Alfano will meet with his British counterpart Boris Johnson at the Foreign Office. A few months after the bilateral meeting in London on 20 December, the talk aims to reaffirm the two Countries’ common commitment to fight terrorism and to take stock of the most important international dossiers of mutual interest, including Libya. The meeting will also offer the opportunity to review the roadmap that London is preparing to adopt to exit the EU and to redesign Britain’s relations with the European Union and its Member States.
