“We are close to the people of Nepal after the violent flood that tragically struck the Country,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano.
He continued: “The Foreign Ministry, through the Crisis Unit and the Consulate General in Calcutta, has taken immediate action to provide all the assistance possible to our fellow-Italians affected.
I would like to convey my best wishes and a warm embrace to the Italians that have already been rescued after the terrible experience. This was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of our Consulate and local Police forces. We are closely following the developments in rescue operations to soon bring to safety the other Italians waiting to be rescued.”
