Hurricane Irma: “Multilateral emergency fund allocated to the International Federation of the Red Cross”

“In order to face the serious humanitarian situation caused by hurricane Irma, which is now sweeping across large areas of the Caribbean Sea, Italy has wanted to make an immediate contribution,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, when announcing the multilateral emergency fund allocated today by the Italian Cooperation service to the International Federation of the Red Cross.

Minister Alfano went on: “300,000 euros will be earmarked to provide assistance to the civilian population, for rescue and relief operations and for preventing the outburst of epidemics in the Anguilla, Antigua, Barbuda, St. Martin and St. Barthélemy Islands, which have been recently hit by the hurricane.”

“Italy stands by all the families of the victims and the people injured,” added Minister Alfano.
