“Sub- Saharan Africa represents a priority for Italy’s foreign policy, and this is why I have deciced to go on my first 2018 mission to West Africa and the Sahel, to visit Niger, Senegal and Guinea. We have designed a broad and equal partnership with Africa, ranging from development cooperation to security, including investments and migration management. This new approach, that was relaunched during the Italy-Africa Ministerial Conference, held in May 2016, is developing also in these three countries in a concrete and visible fashion,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, announcing his mission to Africa from 3 to 5 January. The Minister will visit Niger, Senegal and Guinea where he will hold talks with local authorities and visit some Italian cooperation projects.
