“Relations between Italy and Colombia have improved significantly in recent years. There are more meetings at political level. At the economic-commercial level, trade now exceeds one billion euros, a marked increase over 2016. Colombia has become more attractive to Italian companies with groups like ENEL, Salini, Ferrero and ANAS having a well-established presence in the country. We are therefore proud to give our support to our friends in Colombia for the peace process, which still faces complex challenges”.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, used those words in a visit to Bogota, where today he will meet staff at the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Colombia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Energy (with whom he will sign a memorandum of understanding to boost cooperation in the energy sector), the Post-Conflict Minister and the President of the Republic.
The meetings will focus on Italian support for post-conflict Colombia, economic and commercial relations (with special interest for the infrastructure, energy and agriculture sectors) and the situation in Venezuela.
