The Minister shared with his interlocutors an update on the situation in Libya and on the various ongoing conversations. He also reaffirmed the Italian Government’s commitment to relaunch and bring forward the stabilisation process in Libya, an intention that they all had converging views on.
Minister Moavero Milanesi confirmed Italy’s position on taking the United Nations’ Action Plan as the basis for putting in place an orderly political process in Libya, according to the ways and timeframe to be decided by the Libyan people, also envisaging holding general elections in a correct legislative framework and in conditions of security, transparency and reliability. The Minister also emphasised Italy’s willingness to continue to have an intense and open dialogue with all the parties who have at heart a positive development of the situation in Libya.
Lastly, the Italian Foreign Minister expressed to all of his interlocutors Italy’s firm condemnation of yesterday’s terrorist attack on the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation.
