The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, had a meeting today with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, who is in Rome for the canonization ceremony of Pope Paul VI.
In particular, the two ministers talked about the Conference for Libya to be held in Palermo next 12-13 November and both underscored the importance of the Conference as it follows up on the Paris meeting last May.
The two ministers also highlighted the constant and fruitful cooperation between France and Italy in preparing the Conference and their commitment to work together to constructively promote its success in favour of the stabilisation of Libya, in line with the Plan elaborated by the United Nations and supported by the international community.
The common priority goal reaffirmed by Ministers Le Drian and Moavero, is to re-establish conditions of peace and security in Libya in the interest of the Libyan people and their right to self-determination through free and credible elections.
