Italian trawlers seized by Libyan naval units

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, conveys his thanks to all the civil servants who worked to enable the two trawlers seized by Libyan naval units last Wednesday to sail back to Italy.

He said: “It is a result achieved through a sizable effort, carried out with great effectiveness and dutiful confidentiality and facilitated by our close relations with Libyan authorities and Italy’s resolve to foster the stabilization of a Country that is so close to us. This success also confirms our commitment to always do our utmost to assist our fellow citizens in distress abroad and never leave them on their own.”

It should be recalled that the Italian Embassy in Libya and the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit have constantly followed the case, receiving reassurance on the treatment and good health conditions of the seamen during their detention.
