Vice Minister Emanuela Del Re had a telephone conversation on the situation in Mali with the Foreign Minister of Niger, Kalla Ankourao.
On that occasion, the latter reported on the outcome of his mission to Accra where he went with Nigerien President Issoufou to attend the meeting between representatives of countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the delegation of the military junta of Mali.
Mr Ankourao and Ms Del Re reiterated the expectation of a rapid start to the democratic transition in Mali, with a certain timing and civil leadership.
The Vice Minister has been in contact with her European counterparts and informed that Italy will continue all humanitarian activities in the country aimed at supporting the population. She then agreed with Ankourao on the possibility of further contacts on the subject with European and African partners.
