Sudan. Italian Cooperation humanitarian flight in response to flooding emergency

A humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation departed this morning from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Brindisi, destination Khartoum, with a cargo of almost 10 tons of first aid and relief goods to support the population affected by the flooding emergency in the country, which has caused more than 100 deaths, dozens of injured and about half a million displaced persons.

The humanitarian expedition, organised at the instigation of Vice Minister Del Re, responds to the request for support received by the Sudanese authorities through the activation of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, an instrument for the coordination of foreign aid between the European Union and the Member States, and was carried out thanks to the collaboration of the Civil Protection Department.
