Minister Di Maio extends a message of condolences for the passing of the Secretary General of the PLO and Palestinian Chief Negotiator, Saeb Erekat

“It is with deep regret that we learn of the passing of Saeb Erekat, PLO Secretary General and Palestinian Chief Negotiator. His name is synonymous with three decades of Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations, from Madrid to Oslo, Washington, Camp David, Jerusalem. He has dedicated his life to achieving a just peace, with commitment, loyalty and determination. He once said that ‘achieving peace was his destiny’. Others now must follow in his footsteps and resume his work, as soon as possible”.
