Following upon the visit of Vice Minister Emanuela Del Re to Sudan, the Italian Foreign Ministry launched phase one of the migration strategy for that country.
The set of initiatives, financed with an initial contribution of 1.5 million euros from the Migration Fund, was developed, in partnership with UNHCR, IOM and UNDP, focusing on the three main areas of humanitarian assistance, peaceful coexistence and development promotion. Following the objectives set by the Foreign Ministry, the three organizations will be able to carry out complementary projects to the benefit of migrants, refugees and local communities, particularly in East Sudan States, which are the most vulnerable to migration flows, and in the Shagrab refugee camp.
