Minister Di Maio meets the Council of Ambassadors of the Arab Countries

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, has met today, in a virtual mode, with the Council of Ambassadors of Arab countries accredited in Italy.
The meeting has provided an overview of the Mediterranean and the Middle East’s regional framework, also in view of the G20 Foreign and Trade Ministerial Meetings Minister Di Maio will chair in the coming months.
Minister Di Maio has outlined the priorities of Italian action in the region to foster a sustainable and inclusive recovery following the pandemic.
In particular, he has emphasised the importance of defining a positive agenda in the Mediterranean region, focused on the shared management of common goods such as health, environment and natural resources.
Addressing the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, Minister Di Maio has recalled Italy’s continued support for a just, sustainable two-State solution in line with international law. Finally, Minister Di Maio has highlighted the priority need to relaunch negotiations between the parties and strengthen coordination between the EU and the Arab League.
