As part of efforts to reach an institutional agreement on the definition of the legal framework for allowing the parliamentary and presidential elections to be held on 24 December, delegations from Libya’s House of Representatives and High National Electoral Commission are currently meeting in Rome, with technical assistance provided by the UNSMIL mission.
In supporting UNSMIL’s call for an inclusive process, also involving all the country’s political and institutional components, Italy reaffirms its commitment to the stabilisation of Libya and hopes that this process will lead to the holding of free, fair and inclusive elections, in line with the legitimate aspirations of the Libyan people.
