Della Vedova at the conference for the reconstruction of Ukraine

Undersecretary of State Benedetto Della Vedova will head the Italian delegation at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, scheduled to be held in Lugano on 5 and 6 July. The conference will focus on Ukraine’s future reconstruction prospects, both economic and infrastructural as well as social and humanitarian. The conference will be attended by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, in addition to the representatives of 36 Countries and 13 international organizations.

The event, which will be chaired by Ignazio Cassis, the President of the Swiss Confederation, will offer the opportunity to reaffirm the firm support assured by Italy and its partners to Ukraine, its resistance, its future reconstruction, and the EU accession process that it has undertaken. “With bombs continuing to be dropped on cities, it seems difficult to speak of reconstruction – Undersecretary Della Vedova said – but we must, as of now, think of Ukraine’s path to recovery, which will intertwine with its EU accession process. Italy, with its companies, local entities and third sector, is ready to stand by Ukraine in its reconstruction as well as through its reform process.”
