The Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, had a first telephone conversation with the new Secretary General at Quai d’Orsay, Ambassador Anne-Marie Descôtes.
Ambassador Sequi underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral dialogue and to translate it into joint actions and initiatives as already provided for under the Quirinal Treaty.
Ambassadors Sequi and Descôtes agreed on the advisability of resuming bilateral consultations [between the competent ministers] on the issue of migration and they expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the enlargement process and at the outcome of the first European Political Community Summit held in Prague last 6 October.
Pursuant to the conclusions of the European Council of 20-21 October, Ambassadors Sequi and Descôtes reaffirmed their firm support to Ukraine and the will to remain closely coordinated on the matter of sanctions against Russia and of Europe’s response to the consequences of the war.
Lastly, Sequi and Descôtes made an overview of the latest political developments in Libya.
