The Secretary General, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, had a cordial meeting today with the Ambassador of Kuwait to Italy, Nasser Sanhat Alqahtani.
Ambassador Sequi and Ambassador Alqahtani highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations and agreed on the desire to further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries and their respective peoples. In this perspective, Ambassador Sequi recalled the traditional cooperation between Italy and Kuwait in the defence sector, expressing Italy’s willingness to further deepen commercial – Italy being currently Kuwait’s first trading partner in Europe and seventh globally – and cultural ties, to be achieved by giving a structured dimension to bilateral dialogue.
Ambassador Sequi and Ambassador Alqahtani also reviewed the issues on the regional agenda, agreeing on the need to strengthen the channels of dialogue to encourage the development of a composite response to the many challenges in the region. In this regard, Ambassador Sequi expressed appreciation for the moderate and inclusive approach that has made the Emirate a point of reference in the mediated resolution of regional crises, urging Kuwait to seize every opportunity to facilitate the achievement of peace and stability in the region.
