10 million euros of Italian Cooperation resources announced for humanitarian interventions in the context of the Gaza crisis

Italy has announced 10 million euros to help the Palestinian civilian population facing the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, focusing, in particular, on food security and health response.

In implementing this commitment, Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli, in agreement with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, has provided a total contribution of 9 million euros in new resources, adding to 1 million euros that the Italian Cooperation had already allocated to FAO and decided to redirect to support the activities of the Agency for Farmers and Breeders in the Gaza Strip.

The Italian Cooperation’s resources are earmarked for the activities of FAO (4 million euros), WFP (1.5 million euros), WHO (1.5 million euros), the International Committee of the Red Cross (1 million euros) and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (2 million euros). The Italian contribution will support the Humanitarian Appeals published by the aforementioned international organisations, which emphasise the need to provide food for the population, allow agricultural and livestock activities to guarantee access to health care and urgent medical treatment, support the actions of local actors such as the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent, who are at the forefront in providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population.
