Undersecretary Tripodi attends the pre-opening of the 60th Venice Biennale.

Italy’s Undersecretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, attended the pre-opening of the 60th edition of the Venice Biennale.

The Undersecretary visited the Italian Pavilion Due qui / To Hear curated by Luca Bertolini and held a series of bilateral meetings with institutional representatives from a number of countries. She also attended the opening of the Pavilion of the Republic of Uzbekistan and met the President of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation Saida Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva.  Then, Undersecretary Tripodi held a bilateral meeting with the Chairperson of Qatar Museums, Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, with whom she discussed the current level of cultural cooperation between Italy and Qatar and visited the Qatar Exhibition “Your ghosts are mine: Expanded Cinemas, Amplified Voices”.

The Undersecretary concluded her mission by meeting the State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, Dace Vilsone, with whom she discussed the particularly positive state of relations between Italy and Latvia, as well as further cultural cooperation projects.

“Art, Museum and Academic Cooperation, and the promotion of Italian Culture are a strategic asset of our cultural diplomacy. An essential tool for dialogue and a bridge between peoples,” Tripodi commented, highlighting how the Biennale once again proved to be a jewel in Italy’s crown and an extraordinary international showcase.
