Today, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani will inaugurate, together with President Gravina and the FIGC top management, the “Sfumature di Azzurro” exhibition, as organised and curated by the Italian Football Federation together with the Football Museum in Coverciano.
Since the beginning of his mandate, Tajani has given strong impetus to the sports diplomacy action of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which is part of the growth diplomacy strategy. Major sporting events, such as football ones, are international showcases for Italy, promote infrastructure development, and provide major opportunities for international strategic positioning.
The collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and FIGC will contribute to the promotion of Italy’s image through initiatives implemented by the diplomatic-consular network abroad. The aim is to support the internationalisation of the sports production sector, attract investments, and encourage incoming tourist flows, starting from the value models represented by sports champions.
The event will be attended not only by President Gravina, but also by the President of the Football Museum in Coverciano Matteo Marani, the Italian National Team’s Coach Luciano Spalletti and the Head of Delegation of the Men’s National Team Gianluigi Buffon, in the presence of representatives of the EU and G7 Embassies accredited in Rome, sports bodies, trade associations, athletes, as well as two school classes of very young middle school students.
