Visit of Deputy Minister Cirielli to Oman

The two-day visit to Oman by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, concluded today.

During his meeting with the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy, key regional issues and bilateral cooperation were discussed, with a view to further strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties. “With Undersecretary Al Harthy, we addressed major international crises, from the war in Ukraine to Gaza, and explored areas of bilateral cooperation,” stated the Deputy Minister. “Oman is a strategic partner in ensuring regional peace and stability and offers significant economic opportunities for our companies, from logistics to energy, as well as in the field of cultural collaboration”.

Cirielli also visited the archaeo-zoological mission led by Elena Maini from La Sapienza University of Rome, which studies dolphins and cetaceans in prehistoric times. Additionally, he met with representatives from the 11 Italian archaeological missions operating in Oman.

During a meeting with the Italian community, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed the role of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in Muscat in supporting Italian economic and cultural stakeholders in Oman. He also highlighted the Gulf region’s strategic importance for Italy, as demonstrated by the recent visit of Prime Minister Meloni to the area.
