With regard to the situation of Italian nationals detained in Venezuela, the Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, held a telephone conversation yesterday evening with his Venezuelan counterpart, Andrea Corao.
Deputy Minister Cirielli conveyed the Italian Government’s appreciation for the consular visit that the Chargé d’Affaires in Caracas was able to carry out with respect to nationals Mario Burlò and Alberto Trentini. The Deputy Minister expressed the hope that further steps may follow with a view to reaching a positive resolution of the matter.
