Three out of the four award ceremonies scheduled for this year’s “M’illumino d’immenso – International Poetry Translation Award” have taken place. This competition, which began in Mexico in 2018, now spans four continents.

On 14 October, at the Italian Cultural Institute of Mexico City, the prize for the 7th Edition of “M’illumino d’immenso” for translation from Italian to Spanish was awarded to Helena Aguilà Ruzola (Spain).

On the same day, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo, Fatmaelzahraa Abdalla (Egypt) was honoured as the winner of the 4th Edition of “M’illumino d’immenso” for translation from Italian to Arabic.

On 15 October, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Rio de Janeiro, the prize was awarded to Mariangela Ragassi (Brazil), winner of the same competition for translation from Italian to Portuguese.

The final ceremony will take place on 19 November at the IILA (Italo-Latin American International Organisation) in Rome, where the prize for the 2nd Edition of “M’illumino d’immenso” for translation from Spanish to Italian will be presented to Valerio Nardoni (Italy).

The four best translations were selected by four juries, comprising 15 translators and poets from 11 countries. This initiative does not recognise works that have already been translated and published, but rather encourages participants to tackle the translation of two poems chosen by the organisers.
