The Siena Jazz Festival took place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai on 17 and 18 October. Italy’s most renowned jazz academy, the Siena Jazz Music Academy, performed in the UAE as part of the celebrations organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi for the 24th Week of the Italian Language in the World. Five different bands participated, performing at the Zayed Theatre of Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi and at The Fridge in Dubai.
In Abu Dhabi, musicians Camilla Battaglia and Francesco Fiorenzani performed, while in Dubai the stage was taken by Guglielmo Santimone and Vittorio Gravagna’s trio, along with Lorenzo Simoni’s quartet.
The concerts were organised with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi, the Siena Jazz Music Academy, the Ministry of Culture, SIAE, and “Per Chi Crea“. This initiative, a partnership between the Siena Jazz Academy, IEAP agency, “Per Chi Crea”, SIAE, Ministry of Culture, the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi, and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, fostered an engaging dialogue between jazz and the Italian language, showcasing their versatility and expressive power. For the fourth consecutive year, the Siena Jazz Festival received funding from the Italian Ministry of Culture and SIAE under the “Per Chi Crea” programme, aimed at promoting Italian musical excellence abroad.
