On 9 June 2026, the exhibition “Coffee?… Italian!” was inaugurated at the Slovak National Museum in Bratislava, dedicated to the history, culture and design that have made coffee one of the most recognisable symbols of Made in Italy worldwide. The initiative was promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Bratislava and the Embassy of Italy in Bratislava, in collaboration with the Slovak National Museum and the Associazione Museo del Caffè of Trieste.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by the Director General of the Slovak National Museum, Vieroslava Bernátová, the Ambassador of Italy to Bratislava, Gianclemente De Felice and the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Bratislava, Fabrizio Iurlano, in the presence, among others, of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic, Martina Šimkovičová.
Curated by Marino Petracco, the exhibition presents a selection of historical coffee pots, professional espresso machines and numerous objects linked to coffee culture, offering visitors a journey through one of the most representative traditions of Italian identity. The exhibition illustrates how coffee has become over time not only a beverage, but a true social ritual, as well as a distinctive element of the national lifestyle.
“Coffee?… Italian!” is one of the flagship events of the 19th edition of the Italian festival in Slovakia “Dolce Vitaj”, a well-established meeting point with Italian culture for the Slovak public.
