Sparkle has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PCCW Global, Telecom Egypt and Zain Omantel International (ZOI) for the construction of the Asia–Africa–Europe-2 (AAE-2) submarine cable system. The consortium aims to establish a strong, next-generation digital link between Hong Kong, Singapore and Italy, leveraging secure, high-capacity land corridors across Thailand, the Arabian Peninsula and Egypt.
This ambitious project seeks to transform global connectivity by delivering a resilient, high-performance, and geographically diverse data infrastructure connecting Asia, Africa and Europe. Along its route, the system will include extensions to strategic locations, further enhancing intercontinental connectivity.
By integrating cutting-edge technologies across both submarine and terrestrial segments, AAE-2 will offer unprecedented bandwidth capacity, meeting the growing demand for cloud services, content delivery and digital transformation. The consortium is thus committed to building a solid, scalable infrastructure that will be vital to the future of global connectivity.
