Memorandum of Understanding MAECI-Customs Agency

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Rome today between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Customs and Monopolies Agency.

Undersigned by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni, and by the Director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, Giovanni Kessler, this agreement is the first of its kind between the two authorities. It aims to strengthen the synergies between the MAECI and the Agency in promoting the Italian Economic and Cultural system within a formal and detailed framework.

The result of a smooth cooperation over the past several years, this Memorandum has the objective of consolidating the coordination of existing activities and, above all, promoting a more substantial exchange of information in the many areas of collaboration, at both a European and international level.

In order to implement the commitments agreed upon by the parties, a “Coordination Table” was set up for the accurate identification of priorities for action and related timing.
