On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, a Convention will be held on 10 and 11 December on UN Action to Promote and Defend Human Rights on the Organisation’s 75th anniversary. The Convention is organised by SIOI UNA-Italy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), and Messina University.
This Convention is part of the plans for Celebrating the United Nations’ 75th Anniversary, which will involve various Italian Universities: Messina, Bari, Turin and Rome as stages in a virtual tour of the complex UN System.
The aim of this event is to provide a complete overview of the United Nations’ action to safeguard Human Rights, and to provide concrete indications for the future of the Organisation’s activities, so that the Rights and Dignity of the Individual form the core of the process.
Of the introductory participants at the event on 10 December at 3 p.m., along with the SIOI (Italian Society for International Organisations) President Franco Frattini, and Ambassador Sebastiano Cardi, MAECI’s Director General for Political Affairs and Security, we wish to highlight: Salvatore Cuzzocrea, Rector of Messina University Messina; Francesco Astone, Head of the Jurisprudence Department at Messina University; Mario Calogero, Head of the Political Sciences Department at Messina University; and Salvatore Zappalà, Head of the Jurisprudence Department at Catania University.
