On Monday, 10 April, at 10:30 a.m., the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will visit the National Park of Peace at Sant’Anna di Stazzema, the place that formed the backdrop to one of the most atrocious crimes committed by the Nazi-Fascist regime in Italy during World War II, and precisely on 12 August 1944.
Minister Alfano will be greeted by the local Authorities on the square lying before the Church of Sant’Anna. His visit will continue at the Charnel House in the company of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Italy, H.E. Susanne Marianne Wasum-Rainer, where they will pay homage to the victims of the slaughter and together lay a joint Italian and German wreath of flowers. Minister Alfano will subsequently meet a group of survivors and their families.
The ceremony will also be attended by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the Wreath Laying Ceremony and the minister’s meeting with the survivors are requested to apply for accreditation by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at the following address: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it, specifying their name, surname, date and place of birth, media organisation for which they work and their job title.
Accreditation applications will have to be filed by and no later than 10 a.m. on Sunday, 9 April.
Accredited journalists and reporters will be authorised to park on Piazzale Anna Pardini, in Sant’Anna di Stazzema. Accreditation badges must be picked up in person, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, 10 April, at the Museo Storico della Resistenza, located only a short distance away, on Via Coletti 22. Access to the Charnel House is assured through a restricted shuttle service from the square, or by taking a 10-minute walk of approximately 500 metres on foot, through the street that leads to the Charnel House (“Monumento Ossario”) from the Church Square.
Due to the limited space available, TV crews and photojournalists wanting to shoot the ceremony will be pooled into groups, the size of which will be determined by the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
