Earthquake in Indonesia: support for Italian nationals has been strengthened

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Crisis Unit and in close coordination with the Embassy of Italy in Jakarta, is closely monitoring developments in Indonesia following the violent earthquakes that struck the country, causing casualties and extensive damage, particularly on the island of Flores.

There are approximately 5,000 Italian citizens in Indonesia; of these, about 500 are on the island of Flores, the area hardest hit by the earthquake. The Embassy and the Crisis Unit are working to assess the situation of Italian nationals in the area. At this time, there are no Italian citizens among the victims.

The Crisis Unit at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stepped up its operations to provide assistance to Italian citizens and respond promptly to any critical situations, while maintaining constant coordination with the Embassy of Italy in Jakarta and with local authorities.
