“Libya’s stabilization represents a priority goal for Italy. Reopening the Italian Embassy in Tripoli a year ago was key to supporting, close up, Libyan authorities in the Country’s difficult stabilization process,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the anniversary of the reopening of the Italian Embassy in Tripoli on 10 January 2017, with the installation of Ambassador Giuseppe Perrone.
“Italy was the first European Country to reopen its embassy, which is still to date the only one operational. It represents an important political investment by the Italian and Libyan Governments, which has borne important fruit,” Minister Alfano continued.
“I would like to thank Ambassador Perrone and all our Tripoli Embassy’s civilian and military personnel for the great day-to-day work that they perform in a complex and certainly challenging context. The government stands by their side,” he concluded.
