Enrico Rava and Ennio Morricone perform in Prague

Italian music and performers focus the attention of a qualified Czech public with two important dates in the Bohemia Jazz Fest in Prague.

At 8.30 this evening, the Enrico Rava New Quartet will perform a jazz concert in the Old Town Square in Prague during the opening concert of the Bohemia Jazz Fest, one of the most prestigious festivals in Central Europe. Created in 2005 by guitarist Rudy Linka, the festival will continue until 17 July with stops in Pilsen, Liberec, Domažlice, Tábor and Brno and will offer free admission to all performances. Enrico Rava, one of the most well-known and appreciated Italian jazz artists, will be accompanied by Gabriele Evangelista on bass, Enrico Morello on drums and Francesco Diodati on guitar in what, in 2015, was elected as “best band”, according to the referendum launched by “Musica Jazz” magazine. The  Enrico Rava New Quartet recital is promoted by the Italian Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Maestro Ennio Morricone  will perform on Sunday 15 July at the prestigious Art Nouveau building of the Smetana Hall of the Obecni dum. Accompanied by the Czech National Symphonic Orchestra, Maestro Morricone will present “Musica Assoluta”, a selection of film scores and excerpts taken from his symphonic works. Almost seven years have gone by since the famous Italian composer and conductor performed in the Prague Proms festival for the first time. Since then, the tites between Ennio Morricone and the Czech National Symphonic Orchestra have grown increasingly stronger. In addition to some concerts held in the O2 Arena in Prague, Ennio Morricone has performed with the Czech Orchestra in most European countries and has won several awards, including the Oscar in 2016 for best original score for Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight”.
