Japanese kimonos reinterpreted through the creativity of young Italian designers are now on show at the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo. “Kimonomania – Young Italian Designers Pay Tribute to Kimono” is an exhibition curated by Stefano Dominella, the President of Gattinoni and of the Textile, Clothes, Fashion and Accessory Section of Unindustria (Union of the Industries and Enterprises of Rome and Lazio), that was opened by Italian Ambassador Giorgio Starace.
Italo Marseglia, Santo Costanzo, Silvia Giovanardi, Ivan Donev, Alessandra Giannetti, Andrea Lambiase, Gentile Catone, Christian Luogno, Francesca Nori and Fabrizio Moiani are the designers who developed and realised the series of kimonos that will remain on display until 14 March. Their creations were exhibited side by side with the fashion models signed by designers of international renown such as Guillermo Mariotto. The exhibition is an initiative of the Brand Italy campaign promoted in partnership with the ICE Agency and the Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo (IIC), with the sponsorship of the Italian Embassy.
