Art, music, food and wine, without neglecting football: these are the themes proposed by the Italian Embassy in Yerevan, which will also feature the much- awaited match between Armenia and Italy. In parallel, two contemporary art exhibitions will be the bridge between the cultures of the two Countries. Both of the exhibitions, ‘Ogni dove’ (‘Everywhere’) by Bianco-Valente and ‘Lighting flowers/ Remix Portrait’ by Franz Cerami, are curated by Isabella Indolfi and aim to explore the city of Yerevan, with a special focus on individual stories.
Starting from 4 September, the writing ‘Ogni dove’, in Armenian letters, will appear in Yerevan on an important installation on the façade of the Italian Embassy, on flags on the buildings of institutions that joined the project, on cloths hand-written by citizens and hung on balconies. It thus becomes a widespread collective artwork that involves the residing population as well as the Armenians of the diaspora. It entails simple little actions, like writing the word on the palm of one’s hand and sharing the photo on social networks, that will expand participation in the artwork. Instead, ‘LIGHTING FLOWERS and REMIX PORTRAITS’ aims to light up the Armenian nights. A series of video mapping projections will start in the suburbs of Yerevan and will then light up the magnificent Opera Theatre and the Italian Embassy. The performance-installation started off in Naples, travelled to Rome and by the end of 2019 will be in Saint Petersburg, Madrid and Berlin. The suburbs, forlorn places and passageways will light up like luminous and resilient flowers. Franz Cerami’s digital painting will virally expand over the surfaces of the city and, on 7 September, will accompany the concert by the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia.
