More than 500 companies took part in the webinar organised by the Italian Embassy in Ottawa and the ICE Agency in Toronto on April 22nd, the third event in a series of meetings to inform and support Italian companies interested in the Canadian market.
After the opening speech by the President of the ICE Agency, Carlo Maria Ferro, the Italian Ambassador to Canada, Claudio Taffuri, and the Director of the ICE Bureau in Toronto, Matteo Picariello, briefed participants on the consequences of the Coronavirus emergency in the North American country, and illustrated the measures adopted by the Government to deal with it. “The Canadian market has been very fruitful for years for Italian companies, and the growth of our exports is now consolidated in various sectors, even different from traditional ones,” Ambassador Taffuri recalled. “We have no illusions – the Ambassador continued – the impact of Covid-19 is significant here too, and it is creating great difficulties for the entire economic system, but Canada remains a country with great potential, where what comes from Italy continues to be loved and appreciated. Therefore, our exporters will not miss the opportunity to take advantage of the opportunities that also come from this situation”.
