“Italian Lighting Technology: intelligent lighting for smart cities. Italian excellence in lighting design at the service of the individual”: this was the theme of the conference held in Belgrade among the initiatives of the 2022 edition of Italian Design Day, co-organized by the Italian Embassy and the ICE Italian Trade Agency at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, at the Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and at Confindustria Serbia.
The debate focused on the role of lighting technology as the new frontier of design which combines innovation, craftsmanship, creativity, environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, psychophysical wellbeing, and urban health. It is an important issue, recalled the Italian Ambassador Carlo Lo Cascio in his introductory comments, “not only to make our environments increasingly functional and sustainable but also to improve our wellbeing through very high-tech and aesthetic objects. These are the issues focused in promoting the candidacy of Rome to host the Universal Exposition 2030.”
