The Italian Ambassador in Tanzania, Marco Lombardi, went on a diplomatic mission to the Comoro Islands from 14 to 19 March. The aim of the visit was the presentation of the letter of credence to President Azali Assoumani and a meeting with members of the Italian Community residing in the Country.

In the morning of the 15th of March, Ambassador Lombardi, accompanied by the Consular Correspondent, Saverio Grillone, who has been living in the archipelago for more than forty years, first with the Italian Cooperation service and later with Caritas in the struggle to eradicate leprosy in the Country, presented the letters to the President of the Comoros. During the ceremony, which was marked by utmost sobriety, an overview was given of the excellent bilateral relations between Italy and the Comoros. President Assoumani asked the Italian diplomat to present his most sincere greetings to President Mattarella. The credentials ceremony offered the opportunity to present and promote the candidacy of Rome to host EXPO 2030 at the highest institutional level.
