The concert “Vivaldi sacro e profano”, performed by the Italian music ensemble Accademia Bizantina, has been promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, in collaboration with the Associazione Teatrale Emilia Romagna (ATER) and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical. The event will be held on 19 May at the National Music Auditorium in the Spanish capital city. This is the first concert of the Italian orchestra’s Spanish tour; on 20 May, the ensemble will take part in the Festival de Úbeda, and on 22 May they will be at the Auditorio de Tenerife with “Agitata, sacro e profano”.
Accademia Bizantina is one of the most famous baroque music orchestras. In “Vivaldi sacro e profano”, the ensemble – with Ottavio Dantone, harpsichord and conductor, Delphine Galou, mezzo-soprano, Alessandro Tampieri, concertmaster and solo violin – will perform some of the most famous works by the Italian musician, including Violin Concerto in E minor RV 273 and Salve Regina in G minor RV 618.
Accademia Bizantina was founded in Ravenna in 1983. Its music starts from the very rules of the baroque stylistic language, deeply known to its conductor, Ottavio Dantone. Each performance by Accademia Bizantina is an unexpected journey through time, an unparalleled balance between technique, skill, rigour, interpretative culture, and stylistic accuracy.
