The Italian Embassy in Manama, in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), organised a concert featuring The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, performed by the group Giovani Solisti Italiani (Young Italian Soloists) on Wednesday, 14 December 2022.

The newly formed ensemble debuted with violin soloist Federico Bresciani, piano player Jacopo Salvatori, first violinist Riccardo Caraceni, second violinist Filippo Zucchiatti, viola player Anselmo Simini, cello player Ludovica Rana and theorbo player Pedro Alcacer Doria.

The Young Italian Soloists, experts in classical and contemporary music, have trained in prestigious Italian and European schools, and are part of some of the most renowned orchestras, such as the orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Mozart Orchestra of Bologna and the WDR Funkhausorchester of Cologne.

The audience’s response to the refined performance was extraordinary, confirming that The Four Seasons by the Venetian genius Antonio Vivaldi is one of the most famous and universally recognised masterpieces of Italian music. Through the musical tale of nature, amidst awe and amazement, the audience was transported into the tumultuous succession of the performance. The evening turned out to be an enthralling journey through the four seasons of the year, namely spring, autumn, summer and winter, from the scenes of chirping birds in spring, to the imposing summer thunderstorms, to the flight of foxes in autumn, ending with the pouring rain in winter.

In an interview with the local press, Ambassador Paola Amadei said: “Cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is excellent, and reflects the great interest that Bahrainis have in Italian culture. We have organised numerous events that have received an enthusiastic response from the public. It is a great pleasure to note the special welcome given to the Young Italian Soloists, excellent performers of an extraordinary masterpiece”.

The theatre that hosted the event, attended by the President of BACA, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, was “sold out”, thus confirming the great success of the concert.
