The original exhibition “Racconti (in)visibili: tra cielo e terra” ((In)visible Tales: Between Sky and Earth) will open on 7 July in Madrid. The show, prepared by the Central Institute for Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Italian Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid, is sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Spain.
The exhibition, on show until 10 September, offers visitors a comparison of the works of 15 Italian contemporary artists and features a video section on the Italian Intangible Cultural Heritage. The selected artists are Antonio Ligabue, Matteo Basilé, Bertozzi & Casoni, Paolo Buggiani, Cinzia Sarto, Vincenzo Marsiglia, Stefano Canto, Angelo Bellobono, Davide Dormino, Simone Pellegrini, Elena Bellantoni, Elena Mazzi, Leonardo Petrucci, Benedetto Pietromarchi, Maurizio Sapia.
The audio-video section, edited by the film director Francesco De Melis, includes the ethnographic reportages of photographers Massimo Cutrupi and Marco Marcotulli. All the show features a visual architecture realised by the exhibition designers of Openlab Company, under Luca Ruzza’s coordination, which aims to generate great emotional and communicative impact in the visitors.
The contemporary works on show explore ancient techniques and different kinds of handicrafts and knowledge through paper, ceramic and fabric works and retrace ancient traditions connected to hunting or food and dietary habits. These elements offer several ways to read the human-nature relationship, ancient knowledge and traditional practices in a thematic comparison with De Melis’ videos and Cutrupi and Marcotulli’s photographs.
