The 23rd edition of the Week of the Italian Language was inaugurated in Jeddah at the prestigious University for Business and Technology with a lecture-performance by the Italian duo Mumble Teatro (Davide Marranchelli – Roberto Dibitonto) entitled Le Città invisibili (Invisible Cities).
The lecture took the audience on a journey through Calvino’s imaginary universe connected with the topic of environmental sustainability. Particularly appreciated was the live musical accompaniment that, using excerpts from Italian opera, allowed those present to effectively approach Italian culture. Also relevant were the connections and the similarities that emerged between the post-war changes in Italian society and the great modernisation and radical transformation of Saudi society in the framework of “Vision 2030”.
The duo then presented at the Italian School of Jeddah a performance conceived for primary and secondary schools inspired by the works of Italo Calvino and in particular the fairy tale Prezzemolina.
