The relationship between female leadership and climate change is the theme of the group exhibition “I Want You to Know”, opening today in Nairobi as part of the “Activate Nairobi” campaign against gender-based violence. The exhibition, promoted in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, will be open until 3 December.

The exhibition presents fascinating images captured in Kenya by the brilliant photographer Gaia Squarci and emerging photographers Alphonce OluochRuth Mutinda, Jamal GooddisaCatherine Kabiru and Kelcy Nyaga.

AICS NairobiCortona on the MoveWeWorld Onlus and Mwelu Foundation – which supported Gaia Squarci during her artistic stay in Kenya – took part in the project. In her work, the Italian photographer used images to explore unique perspectives on climate change and gender issues.  “I Want You to Know” offers an intimate and powerful look at the experiences, challenges and hopes of the protagonists through the eyes of talented artists.
