The Embassy of Italy to the Holy See organised an event entitled Opportunities and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Communication. Promoted on the occasion of the 58th World Day of Social Communications, in collaboration with the Italian WebCatholics Association (WeCa) and the patronage of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Communication, the Conference aimed to encourage reflection on the use of artificial intelligence in the field of communication. This also in view of the importance attached to this issue in the context of the Italian G7 Presidency, which will dedicate a session of the June Summit to it, with the participation of the Pope.

The event, held in Palazzo Borromeo, was opened by the greetings of the Italian Ambassador to the Holy See, Francesco Di Nitto, and was introduced and moderated by the journalist and WeCa President, Fabio Bolzetta.

Other speakers included Prefect Alessandra Guidi, Deputy Director General of the Department of Information for Security; Father Paolo Benanti, President of the AI Commission for Information; Barbara Caputo, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Hub of the Turin Polytechnic University; and Msgr. Lucio Adrian Ruiz, Secretary of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Communication.
