Germany: Investment in Italy reaches 33.1 billion
Between 2009 and 2012 investment in Italy by German companies increased significantly, from 30.2 billion euros to 33.1 billion. The number of Italian companies receiving German investment also increased over the period, by nearly 100 units: from 1,250 to 1,345, with total sales amounting to around 95 billion euros. The figures were announced by Emanuele Gatti, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany, during the Italian-German Economic Forum. Italy is one of Germany’s leading suppliers (accounting for 43.7 billion euros from January 2013, compared with 44.6 in the same period in 2012 – a fall of 1.95%). Our country comes after the Netherlands, China, France and the United States. The most active sectors are chemicals (13%), metallurgy (13%) and transport (11%). The agri-food sector accounts for just 7%, and textiles 5%, of imported goods. From January to November 2013 Germany exported 49.5 billion euros worth of goods to Italy, a drop of 4.12% on the 51.7 billion recorded for the same period in 2012. Source: infoMercatiEsteri.
